At the trailer launch of Kaantha, Telugu actor and producer Rana Daggubati praised Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan, calling his performance in the film exceptional and suggesting that he would become the top choice for any period drama in India.
“Post the film, Dulquer will be the first choice for any period film made in India,” said Rana Daggubati.
Rana further predicted a grand reception for Dulquer once the movie hits the screens.
“All of Tamil Nadu will hail Dulquer as the ‘Nadippin Chakravarthy’ (Emperor of Acting),” he added.
He also took time to acknowledge other members of the cast, such as Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse, praising their contribution to the film. Rana highlighted that Samuthirakani, who plays a director in the story, was deeply involved in shaping scenes and often assisted director Selva on set. Meanwhile, Bhagyashri was cast after an audition, even though she had already starred in Telugu films, marking her debut in Tamil cinema.
Reflecting on his own roots, Rana mentioned his connection to the golden era of South Indian cinema.
“I come from one of the few Telugu families that moved from T. I grew up hearing fascinating stories about Vijaya Vauhini Studios and the great films made there,” he said. “Director Selva has recreated a similar nostalgic atmosphere in Kaantha.”
Rana Daggubati lauded Dulquer Salmaan’s phenomenal performance in Kaantha, predicting widespread acclaim across Tamil Nadu and celebrating the film’s nostalgic spirit.
