[GCAxTHGS25] Marvel Rivals’ Danny Koo Reveals Exclusive Details on Zombie Mode, Rapid Hero Releases, and What’s Next - GamerBraves

Marvel Rivals Expands with Zombie Mode and Rapid Content Plans

Marvel Games' Executive Producer Danny Koo, currently leading the development of Marvel Rivals, shared new insights during his appearance at gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show. Nearly ten months after the game’s initial launch, Koo highlighted the team’s progress, ongoing content pipeline, and ambitious future roadmap.

Introducing Marvel Zombie Mode

The studio is venturing into fresh territory with its first PvE feature: Marvel Zombie Mode. This limited-time event allows players to control five heroes, battling hordes of undead across New York before confronting the main boss, the Queen of the Dead. The mode serves as an experimental feature designed to evaluate player engagement and gameplay systems.

“It’s the first PvE mode for Marvel Rivals. It only has five characters right now,” Koo explained. “It’s just like a testbed to see what players like, how the system works, and hopefully in the future we’ll deploy more PvE mode based on data collected from this round.”

Collaboration with Marvel Animation

The Zombie Mode is also a product of collaboration between Marvel Games and Marvel Animation. Character designs and costumes, including those for zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead, draw heavily from the animation style featured in the show.

“We have a zombie Namor and a zombie Queen of the Dead from the show. The costumes are very close to the animation,” Koo noted.

Aggressive Content Schedule and Future Plans

Koo reaffirmed Marvel Rivals’ bold development pace, maintaining a release rhythm of one hero every month. He described upcoming quality-of-life updates and new PvE experiences as part of their long-term strategy to grow and refine the hero shooter’s ecosystem.
