ICYMI: On MSNBC: Rosen Slams Donald Trump for Refusing to Protect Health Care, Reopen the Government - Jacky Rosen

ICYMI: Senator Jacky Rosen Criticizes Donald Trump on Health Care and Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen appeared on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House” with Nicolle Wallace to condemn Donald Trump for failing to facilitate negotiations aimed at protecting affordable health care and ending the Republican government shutdown.

Affordable Care Act and Tax Credits at Risk

Senator Rosen emphasized the urgent need to extend the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits to keep health care affordable for families. A recent analysis by the non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation found that without these tax credits, premiums for working families could more than double.

Rosen’s Statement on the Shutdown and Leadership

“Donald Trump is in charge of the White House. He’s actually Speaker of the House these days, as he alleges himself, and he’s pretty much in control of the Senate. He could stop this shutdown right now by calling a group of Democrats and Republicans together to work on preserving the accessibility and affordability of health care for tens of millions of Americans who are about to fall off a cliff at the end of this year. Whether you get your health care on the exchanges or through your employer, everybody’s healthcare is going up.”

Senator Rosen strongly urged leadership to act immediately to protect Americans’ access to affordable health care and resolve the shutdown.
