RAF A400M Conducts Historic Landing on Remote Arctic Island in NATO Mission
The Royal Air Force (RAF) conducted a first-of-its-kind operation with the U.S. and Norway, landing an A400M Atlas transport aircraft on Norway's Jan Mayen island.
The mission involved transporting a U.S. Marine Corps JLTV, simulating a NMESIS system, and infantry in the High North.
The NMESIS forms a part of the Corps' island-hopping Expeditionary Advanced Base of Operations (EABO) concept in the western Pacific.
The RAF A400M airlifted the JLTV, British, and U.S. infantry to the remote island, marking a historic landing.
