Ministry of Interior Unveils Findings on Alleged Kidnapping Cases

The Ministry of Interior’s spokesperson, Noureddine Al-Baba, announced on Sunday the results of an extensive investigation into alleged kidnappings in Syria’s coastal region. The inquiry covered four governorates: Latakia, Tartous, Homs, and Hama.

According to Al-Baba, a special committee examined official documents, interviewed the women and girls involved, and spoke with their families to verify the accuracy of the reported cases.

Key Findings

Out of 43 reported cases, 41 were determined not to be actual kidnappings.
One case was verified as a true abduction; the victim was safely rescued.
Efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of that case are ongoing.

“The Ministry of Interior handles every report of kidnapping with the utmost seriousness, committed to protecting Syrian women and vulnerable citizens, and to ensuring their safety,” said Al-Baba.

He urged citizens to avoid spreading unverified information and to use official channels when submitting reports or concerns.

“We thank the coastal communities for their cooperation with the investigation and reaffirm our dedication to public trust and security,” Al-Baba concluded.
