SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, a native of France and former Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was called and ordained as the newest member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday. He was ordained by President Dallin H. Oaks along with other leaders of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest governing body in the Church. Its members act as special witnesses of Jesus Christ and manage the global administration of the faith.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said. “And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ.”
Elder Caussé served as a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012 and then as a member of the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 until his recent ordination. His ministry has emphasized compassion and the vital role of youth in the Church.
