The fifth and final T20I match between India and Australia at The Gabba in Brisbane was officially called off due to persistent rain. As a result, India clinched the five-match series by a 2-1 margin.
Earlier, Rinku Singh replaced Tilak Varma in India’s lineup for this decisive encounter, but continuous showers left no room for play despite brief periods when conditions seemed to improve.
Broadcast visuals initially showed the rain easing, but moments later it resumed, forcing the officials to abandon the game altogether.
“To be honest, I’m not able to think about this right now. Maybe, I will realise after a few months what we have achieved. What we have given our country. I can’t process this right now. I spoke about the same with Amol sir, it feels like we have won some bilateral series and we’re going back home. The impact of it is something we’ll realise in a few months. Right now, it just feels like a dream,” she said.
After the T20 series, India will return home to prepare for an all-format tour against South Africa. Meanwhile, domestic action continued with Mumbai taking on Himachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy, as players trained at the Sharad Pawar BKC Complex.
