Labor wants you to be ashamed of our Australian flag 🇦🇺
I want to start by expressing regret over the remarks made by Senator Dolega, which were offensive to coalition senators and members. According to Labor, it now seems an offence to drape the Australian flag and to be proud of it.
As Senator Dolega interjected, she criticised some of us on this side of politics for boldly draping the Australian flag around us and showing pride in our country. She even suggested that expressing such pride amounts to dog whistling.
How dare you suggest that is dog whistling! Through you, Chair, how dare Senator Dolega suggest it is dog whistling to be proud of our country and be proud of our flag.
Our nation attracts many migrants because it is a great country with one of the most successful migration histories worldwide. We are a proud migrant nation and multicultural society, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have been here for thousands of years, long-term residents, and recent arrivals.
We are a hugely successful multicultural country.
