The Aurora Australis, also known as the Southern Lights, might grace Victoria’s skies tonight. The Australian Space Weather Forecasting Centre (ASWFC) has released an Aurora alert following reports of an ongoing geomagnetic storm.
“Aurora may be observed during local nighttime hours in good observing conditions at high latitudes,”
The ASWFC’s most recent alert before this one, issued on October 30, resulted in sightings around midnight across Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. Conditions tonight may again offer a rare chance to witness this natural wonder.
Following yesterday’s supermoon, the night sky in the Southern Hemisphere continues to impress with another celestial display. The Aurora Australis, much like its northern cousin, the Aurora Borealis, captivates everyone lucky enough to see its vivid colors.
“Only those who have witnessed the Northern Lights with their naked eyes can truly understand its ethereal magic.”
The Southern Lights may be visible tonight across parts of Victoria, offering skywatchers another dazzling spectacle following the recent supermoon.
