Introducing the New Man at Balmain: Antonin Tron

Antonin Tron, founder of the Parisian brand Atlein, has been appointed Creative Director of Balmain starting this month, succeeding Olivier Rousteing after his 14-year leadership during which the house's revenue grew tenfold.

At 41, Tron is known for Atlein's expert draping and jersey manipulation, praised by Hamish Bowles in Vogue (September 2016) as being "as good as Alaia’s." His work reflects a thoughtful approach to femininity inspired by feminist, gender, and environmental thinkers and artists.

Debut Collection and Vision

Tron is set to present his first Balmain collection for fall 2026 in March next year. He states:

“Balmain has a truly inspiring history. At its heart, the house embodies savoir-faire, culture, sensuality, and elegance—fashion that is radiant, precise, and bold. This resonates deeply with me, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to build on this incredible legacy.”

Balmain Leadership on Tron’s Appointment

Matteo Sgarbossa, Balmain's CEO, commented:

“We are thrilled to welcome Antonin to the house of Balmain. Antonin’s approach to design, rooted in the art of draping and the physicality of fabric, marks a continuation of Pierre Balmain’s foundational belief that ‘dressmaking is the architecture of movement’.”

Antonin Tron’s creative direction signals a respectful evolution of Balmain’s enduring heritage, blending craftsmanship and modern femininity with bold elegance.
