The National Assembly has proposed shifting the presidential and governorship election dates to November 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Naija News, this proposal is part of draft amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act, which currently requires elections to be held no later than 185 days before the incumbent's term expires on May 29.
The proposal was discussed at a one-day public hearing organized by the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committee on Electoral Matters.
