Mortal Kombat III Announced Ahead of Mortal Kombat II's Release
Despite Mortal Kombat II not being released in cinemas yet, the next chapter in the saga, Mortal Kombat III, is already in production.
During New York Comic Con 2025, screenwriter Jeremy Slater revealed that Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have greenlit Mortal Kombat III due to their confidence in the franchise's trajectory.
"New Line and Warner Bros. are thrilled with the direction of Mortal Kombat II," Slater said. "They believe there’s a huge, untapped fanbase, so they’ve asked me to start crafting the next chapter right now."
Slater has begun drafting the script for Mortal Kombat III, just months before the sequel's release.
