President Dallin H. Oaks: A Life of Faith and Ministry
President Dallin H. Oaks has served in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for over 40 years. His journey began when he was balancing a demanding schedule at a Chicago law firm and raising a young family.
He received a call to serve in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which required 40 hours of monthly proselyting as a stake mission and counselor in the stake mission presidency.
I could not see how I could accept this calling and still keep up with my law practice. Yet I could not say no to a calling that I knew to be from the Lord.
Despite initial doubts, he accepted the call and soon recognized the blessings that come from serving the Lord, as noted in his biography, "In the Hands of the Lord," by Richard E.
