Fifth Adopted Child Sues Sissonville Couple

A civil complaint has been filed against Donald Lantz, 61, and Jeanna Whitefeather, 63, a Sissonville couple convicted in a historic child abuse, forced labor, and human trafficking case.

The guardian of the adopted child has filed suit in Kanawha County Circuit Court, alleging

“severe and outrageous” mistreatment that “went beyond all bounds of decency to be tolerated in a civilized community”
.

Charleston attorney Joseph Spano filed the lawsuit after being appointed as a guardian to protect the youth’s interests.

This marks the fifth adopted child to sue the couple, claiming

“shocking and severe physical and emotional abuse and neglect”
.
