Northeast Ohio Amish Woman Killed in Buggy Accident
An Ohio Amish woman was killed and another seriously injured on October 12 after a truck struck their buggy on U.S. Route 422 in Geauga County.
The horse and buggy, operated by 62-year-old Lester Byler, was headed east when it was hit from behind by a red Volvo commercial truck driven by 31-year-old Daoud Husein.
- The crash occurred near State Route 528 in Parkman Township around 7:30 a.m.
- Lester Byler and his passenger, 60-year-old Mary A. Byler, were ejected from the buggy.
- Mary A. Byler died at the scene, while Lester Byler was flown to University Hospital Medical Center in Cleveland with severe injuries.
The truck driver, Daoud Husein, was not injured in the accident.
