Inside Selhurst: Refurbishment of Electrostar Trains

A £100 million project to refurbish over 300 Electrostar trains used across the Govia Thameslink (GTR) network has been completed.

GTR, which runs trains under the Thameslink, Great Northern, Southern, and Gatwick Express names, carried out the work in-house at its Selhurst depot.

The project, believed to be the largest fleet upgrade in modern times, was unusual in that no trains were sent off-site for refurbishment.

By bringing the job in-house, GTR was able to streamline the process and complete the project without relying on third-party refurbishment companies.

No trains were sent off-site for refurbishment.
