For Northern Ontario's Sikh community, finding a turban used to mean ordering from afar.
Thanks to Gurpreet Singh Broca, an international student-turned entrepreneur in Sudbury, that is no longer the case.
I just didn’t want to do it for myself but also for my friends and community
Broca, who works at a major Canadian bank, opened the Chardikala Turban Store in Sudbury over the summer.
The store has already expanded its product line to include other articles of faith, such as traditional head coverings, ceremonial cloths, jewelry and accessories like hairpins and grooming items.
The store's name, Chardikala, is a Punjabi term rooted in the Sikh faith that describes maintaining a positive mindset, even in the face of hardship and adversity.
