As the 2025 recipient of the Inspired by Sable Island Post-Secondary Award, May spent the day on the island, carrying out her independent field research.

Sable Island, located 300 kilometers southeast of Halifax, is home to wild horses, dunes, and unique species found nowhere else on Earth.
Research Focus
May's proposal, chosen for its originality and conservation focus, involved surveying horse and seal scat for evidence of invertebrates.
