Father and Son Lose Appeal Over Covid Fine
Nicolae and Florin Mazarache, of Clondalkin, Dublin, were travelling to Spain to visit family members when they were stopped at Dublin Airport on April 17, 2021.
They were issued with €2,000 fixed penalty notices for allegedly breaching Covid regulations by travelling to the airport.
- The notices alleged they had "committed an offence of movement of persons" at a port or airport contrary to the 1947 Health Act (as amended).
- A fixed payment of €2,000 was applied, with the possibility of a fine of up to €4,000 and/or one month's imprisonment if not paid.
The father and son chose not to pay the fine and instead brought judicial review proceedings, but their appeal was unsuccessful.
No comment was made by the father and son regarding the decision.
