SoftBank Group, founded by Masayoshi Son, is issuing $2 billion in high-yielding dollar bonds to support its investment in OpenAI.
The company held more than twice as many bonds as bank loans as of June. These hybrid bonds, which allow SoftBank to defer coupon payments, have an initial price guidance of 8.5% to 8.625% for a 2065 issue.
By comparison, the straight 2035 bond is trading at only 6.8%.
