Apple says US passport digital IDs are coming to Wallet 'soon' | TechCrunch

Apple to Introduce Digital Passport IDs in Wallet

Apple will soon introduce a feature to Apple Wallet, allowing U.S. users to create a digital ID using their passport.

This digital ID can be used at select TSA checkpoints for domestic travel, as announced as part of the iOS 26 release.

Currently, support for government IDs in Apple Wallet has rolled out to 12 states and Puerto Rico.

The feature comes on the heels of Apple’s expansion of Wallet as more than a payment mechanism or ticket holder, but also a secure place to store a user’s digital identity.

The new digital IDs won’t replace a U.S. passport, but will provide an additional form of identification for domestic travel.
