Climate Change Adaptation in Finnish Municipalities
The majority of Finnish municipalities have taken action to adapt to climate change, but only less than half have set targets or prepared action plans.
A recent survey by the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) assessed the situation in municipalities based on their progress in climate change adaptation.
Leading Municipalities
- Large municipalities: Espoo, Turku, and Vantaa
- Medium-sized municipalities: Pirkkala, Kirkkonummi, and Ylöjärvi
- Small municipalities: Pielavesi, Kitee, Kruunupyy, Kivijärvi, and Urjala
The survey, carried out in spring 2025, received responses from 118 municipalities, representing about 4.
