Farmers in South-West France Launch Tractor Protest
Farmers in Dordogne, south-west France, have begun a series of undeclared tractor protests, targeting government offices.
The protests, called by farming union Coordination rurale, started on Tuesday afternoon with tractors moving slowly in convoy along Dordogne roads before arriving at the government offices to hold demonstrations in the evening.
- Tractors targeted the préfecture and sous-préfecture offices in Périgueux, Nontron, Sarlat, and Bergerac.
- Farm waste was dumped and tyres burned in front of the offices.
The farmers are angry at government-imposed bans on the transport of cattle, imposed in an attempt to stop the spread of dermatose nodulaire (Lumpy Skin Disease).
No official statement has been announced by the government regarding the protests.
