The MIAA's Continued Problem

The effects of Catholic Memorial football remaining in MIAA's Division 2 are visible and worsening.

As the 2025 high school football season's tournament time begins, the MIAA faces a familiar issue. Catholic Memorial, one of the state's most talented programs, will compete in Division 2, not the highest level.

Catholic Memorial is currently the fourth-highest rated team in the state, per the MIAA Power Rankings, and will enter the postseason as the top seed in Division 2.

For the fifth straight season, one of the state’s most talented and prominent programs, helmed by the second-winningest coach in state history, will compete beneath the highest level.

After losing back-to-back Division 1 Super Bowls to St. John’s Prep in 2018 and 2019, CM moved down to Division 2 during the MIAA realignment.

Author's summary: MIAA faces issues with Catholic Memorial in Division 2.
