A new poll reveals that a majority of likely California voters favor Proposition 50, which proposes a redrawn congressional map that could result in Democrats gaining five House seats.
According to a Public Institute of California (PPIC) poll, 56% of likely voters support Prop 50, while 43% oppose it. The poll highlights significant partisan differences, with 84% of Democrats supporting the measure and 89% of Republicans against it.
Independent voters appear to lean towards the left, with 55% supporting the proposition. The proposed map, supported by Gavin Newsom and passed by the state legislature in August, could give Democrats the opportunity to flip five Republican-held seats.
