Ohio State has made a significant recruiting move by flipping Jay Timmons, an elite four-star cornerback, into their top-10 recruiting class. With National Signing Day less than a month away, this addition strengthens an already impressive defensive backfield.
On Thursday, Pittsburgh Pine-Richland cornerback Jay Timmons, ranked No. 2 cornerback in the 2026 Rivals300, committed to Ohio State after flipping from Florida State. Although Timmons has family ties to Florida State, he chose Columbus following his visit to the Big Ten program.
“Their defense is what excites me and the energy they bring it’s something different,” Timmons told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong.
Timmons’ commitment moved Ohio State up one position to No. 8 in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. His addition completes a strong defensive back haul for head coach Ryan Day and secondary coach Tim Walton.
“Ohio State has not made any mistakes,” Bradford’s father told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman in August.
With these strategic additions, Ohio State continues to build a formidable defensive backfield designed to energize the team's defense for seasons to come.
Author's summary: Ohio State’s successful recruitment of Jay Timmons highlights their strong defensive back class, boosting their national ranking and solidifying their defensive prospects for 2026.
