Manx Telecom will no longer provide the manx.net email service for free after transferring it to a specialist provider.
As of today, Junara has assumed full ownership and customer support responsibility. Users will have to pay £65 a year to keep their email address.
Those who choose not to pay will have their accounts permanently deleted in April next year.
According to Gary Lamb, CEO of Manx Telecom, the company has subsidized the manx.net service for 25 years, but evolving email technology and security requirements have led to the need for more investment in specialized expertise and infrastructure.
