The Carthage Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Maple Leaf Festival, which runs through Sunday, October 18th.
Started in 1966 as a marching band competition, the festival has grown to celebrate the area's maple trees in the fall, earning Carthage the title of America's Maple Leaf City.
"It's a nine-day festival, and we welcome all of our visitors from all over the region," said Julie Reams, president/CEO of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce. "We have over 100,000 people that partake in all of our activities throughout the whole week."
The festival began on October 10th with a rodeo and will feature different events each day, highlighting the local community.
