Berkeley County Couple Charged with Crimes Involving Minor

A married couple from Hanahan, South Carolina, has been charged with crimes including criminal sexual conduct involving a minor and human trafficking, according to the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

39-year-old Filipe Novais De Oliverira and 38-year-old Lais Olivetti Silva were charged on Wednesday. De Oliverira faces four counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and trafficking in persons, while Silva is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and trafficking in persons.

Warrants allege De Oliverira would send Zelle payments to Silva before the couple would engage in sex acts together with a minor between the ages of 11 and 14, who they would also give gifts as "compensation,"

according to SLED.
