Dog Abuser Threatens Bystanders with Knife in Midtown Kingston

On October 16, the Kingston Police Department arrested 30-year-old Quameik Byrd of Kingston following a report of dog abuse and knife possession on Cedar Street.

Witnesses stated that Byrd was seen striking, kicking, and dragging a young puppy by its leash, and even lifting the dog into the air. When bystanders attempted to intervene, Byrd allegedly produced a knife and threatened to harm them and their families, including at least one minor under 17.

Byrd was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree due to a previous conviction.
