Many popular internet services, including streaming platforms, messaging services, and banks, experienced hours-long outages on Monday due to a disruption in Amazon's cloud network.

- Mobile telephone services and some UK banks, such as Lloyd's, were also impacted
Amazon Web Services (AWS) handles nearly a third of the planet's cloud infrastructure market, powering millions of apps and websites worldwide.
AWS's maintenance site reported "increased error rates" hitting multiple services at 0711 GMT, prompting engineers to scramble and fix the underlying DNS issue.
