Windows 11's New Start Menu
Microsoft has released a major update for the Windows 11 Start menu in versions 24H2 and 25H2, featuring a single-page, category-based All apps view and more.
Available through the optional update KB5067036, this new Start menu is being gradually rolled out and is currently marked as a preview, indicating that all changes will be included in the November 2025 Patch Tuesday.
The original Start menu, first introduced with Windows 95 in 1995, has undergone significant changes over the years, including a major redesign with Windows XP.
The original Start menu is now 30 years old and was first launched with Windows 95, in 1995.
With the evolution of the Start menu, Microsoft has attempted to replace it, notably with Windows 8 in 2012.
