Reconciliation in Action: First Nations Art to Star in Prominent Location

A 4.2-metre sculpture, titled Grounded, is planned for Port Fairy's East Beach, telling "a story of strength, survival and celebration" through Indigenous Australian truth-telling art.

Moyne Shire councillors endorsed the artwork by artist Sherry Johnstone as part of the East Beach Masterplan redevelopment at a meeting on October 28, 2025.

The sculpture could be installed near the Port Fairy Surf Life Saving Club, pending sufficient funding through grants or community fundraising.

A brave step for council
