As midterm elections approach, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has announced the revival of a redistricting advisory commission to recommend new congressional maps.
The Governor’s Redistricting Advisory Commission, which typically meets every decade, aims to redraw legislative and congressional maps to reflect Census results. However, many other states have begun redistricting mid-cycle.

Angela Alsobrooks, the former Prince George’s County executive, will chair the commission. Gov. Moore's efforts come as U.S. President Donald Trump tries to avoid Democrats gaining seats in Congress.
