The NextGen derby showcased impressive talent as “the boys from Krakow,” Spaniards Alonso Rodriguez and David Gala, faced each other on the court. Both were key players in Spain's gold medal victory at the 2023 European Games in Poland.
The four players demonstrated excellent padel skills and recent growth. Gala-Garcia had previously eliminated the fifth seeds, Di Nenno-Augsburger, highlighting their strong form. Garcia entered with three consecutive titles on the CUPRA FIP Tour, and Gala with two.
The final score, 6-4, 7-6, followed a dramatic comeback by Rodriguez-Rubini in the second set leading to a tiebreak. It captured the intensity of a clash between rising stars.
“If David Gala has been called ‘the chosen one’ and the brightest gem of Spain’s new generation, there’s a reason.”
For both Gala and Garcia, this represents the most important achievement of their careers so far. Prior to the FIP World Cup Pairs, Gala’s best result was reaching a quarterfinal at Tarragona P1 2025, where he lost 6-2, 6-2 to Yanguas-Nieto.
David Gala’s victory alongside Pablo Garcia marks a milestone in their promising careers, spotlighting Spain’s future stars in padel.
