Election Roundup: Lumberton City Council Members Reelescted

Lumberton City Council members Melissa Robinson, John Carroll, John Cantey, and Owen Thomas were reelected on Tuesday, each winning by a wide margin as the only name on the ballot in their respective precincts.

In Precinct 5, John Cantey won with 202 votes, more than 88% of the total, despite two write-in campaigns by Keith Copeland and Darryl Genus, which combined for 27 votes.

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, all of our church families, civic groups and especially the residents of Precinct 5 for entrusting me to a sixth term as their representative,”

Cantey, the senior member of the Lumberton City Council, has served on the board since 2005 and won a sixth term on Tuesday.
