Editorial: Standing in Solidarity with the Indiana Daily Student

The Indiana Daily Student is facing challenges from its own university, highlighting the importance of student media in campus communities.

In a recent incident, Indiana University administrators attempted to restrict the Indiana Daily Student from publishing news stories in its homecoming print edition. This move was part of a larger effort to reduce the number of print editions, with remaining editions focused on special themes.

A significant development occurred when Jim Rodenbush, Director of Student Media, was fired for refusing to comply with the university's order. Shortly after, the university decided to cut print entirely for the Indiana Daily Student.

In a show of solidarity, Purdue University's student paper, The Exponent, printed 3,000 copies of a special edition featuring editorials from the Indiana Daily Student and distributed them on IU's campus.
